Summer Meeting Galore!

Hey all readers!

Today was another fun filled summer meeting in our new build area. The team has been focusing on preparing for the new season and fixing the issues we've had with our robot so Oddjob's ready for Calgames in October. The focus of our work today was our second drive base and Oddjob's disk jamming problem. For the jamming problem, the spinning wheels would cause the chamber in which the disks lay to vibrate fervently. Couple that motion with the possible driving scenarios, the disks would slide over each other and prevent the piston to launch the first disk. The solution we are currently working on is a small wedge to attach to the piston that will allow disk to properly launch while preventing the same overlapping issue. However that is only one possible solution to the jamming problem and we are still considering other alternatives. In regards to the second drive base, we are trying to build a system with a 6 wheel center drop for driving and programming practice along with the challenge of building the drive base. The center two wheels will remain in contact while the other two in the front and back of those wheels can contact the floor and stabilize the robots driving if need be. This would have been extremely useful in the competition two year ago of "Rebound Rumble" with the barrier in the field and the hope of our team is to see if this base can be useful in future games. So the construction of that base has begun. With those both being underway, I'm  thoroughly excited to see what they will look like when completed!

Lastly as my team mate Allen promised last time, pictures!

Another Summer Meeting Down!

Hey All!

Here's an update on what we have been up to! We are going to change up our robot for the upcoming Calgames and fix all the problems that we had during the Silicon Valley Regional. We split into several groups, one is currently trying to fix the problem where our shooter would jam. Another is teaching our newcomers the basics of building a robot and having them build a new drive-base for testing. Also, the hunt for the perfect bolt for the drive-base has begun.  Well that's about all we did this meeting, stay tuned for more updates!
Sadly no pictures from this meeting, but there will be some next update!

Sincerely,
